Pull apart garlic and cheese rollsPlan on cooking a comforting casserole or soup? Better yet, braaing this weekend? Well, I have just the thing to serve with your meal. Warm freshly baked pull apart garlic and cheese bread rolls. All done with minimal fuss of course. I buy bread dough from my local supermarket’s bakery section. They always have available in the morning, but pre-order just in case if going later in the day. Then it’s just a matter of rolling the dough into balls, dousing in garlic & herb butter, arranging in 2 x 20 cm cake tins and topped with a good sprinkling of white cheddar for good measure. What comes out of the oven are two perfectly golden round breads that break apart easily into soft pillowy rolls dripping in garlic butter. Hells yes!

1 kg white bread dough, divided into 2 balls
125 g salted butter
4-6 garlic cloves, crushed
15 ml chopped fresh rosemary leaves
15 ml chopped fresh thyme leaves
45 ml finely chopped parsley
Freshly ground black pepper
250 ml finely grated white cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 180 Degrees Celsius.
Heat the butter, garlic, rosemary and thyme in a small heavy based saucepan ( I used AMC’s 16 cm gourmet high ) until melted and starts to foam. Allow to cool slightly. Stir in the parsley and season with black pepper.
Meanwhile line and grease 2 x 20 cm cake tins ( I used AMC’s stainless steel 20 cm cake tins).
Divide each piece of dough into 9 pieces and roll into balls.
Arrange 9 dough balls into each tin. Pour the garlic butter generously over the arranged dough balls in each tin. . Use a brush to make sure all the dough is covered in garlic butter. Sprinkle with cheese!
Bake in the middle shelf of the oven for 25 – 30 minutes.
Best served warm – straight out of the oven!
Another shortcut: Simply buy a tube of garlic butter to save on time.
